Kon Tum has more than 54% of the population who are ethnic minorities, including 7 main groups: Xo Dang, Ba Na, Gie-Trieng, Gia Rai, Ro Mam, Brau and Hre. They earn a living by working for non-ethnic minorities to do farming and growing cassava, rubber and coffee. Since the ethnic minorities in these areas do not have clean water and use water from well and rain as their drinking water, they often suffer from gastrointestinal diseases including diarrhea. Therefore, ICI and our partner Từ Tâm organization provided clean water systems in these areas within the past 6 months. During the medical mission trip in 2022, our team visited 5 villages: Kon Hra Kotu, Đăk Kang Pêng, Đăk Blai, Đăk Giấc and Đăk Hnăng for grand opening of clean water systems and distributing gifts to people. At each village, we hand-delivered 325 gifts, sponsored by SCA - Ngọn Nến Tình Yêu, including 1 bag of rice and 1 water container, and children also received candies. We were touched by the love and appreciation from these ethnic minorities as they shared with us what they have including bananas, vegetables, corns, dried bamboo shoots and warm and loving hugs, simple but very meaningful.
